By Lucy Ruth Cummins and Illustrated By Pete Oswald
I love Lucy Ruth Cummins and her Sleepy Sheepy books are adorable. I can’t say that this book was creepy, but it was sheepy.
By Casey Lyall and Illustrated by Nici Gregory
This was a deliciously spooky book meant for rereadings. It begs to be read aloud using your spooookiest voices!
By Maddie Frost
A tale of annoying siblings and a reminder that everyone’s siblings are super annoying. But also very funny.
By Beth Ferry and Illustrated by Charles Santoso
You know I love a pet plot, and I love a witch moment. Evelyn was giving determination and flexibility and I was hoping she’d get a good pet.
By Lucy Branam and Illustrated by Natalie Hoopes
I met Lucy at the MidSouth SCBWI (Society of Children’s Writers and Illustrators) event this year and she was a total hoot. Little Ghost is relatable and is a great example of needing your space but also missing your loud family.
By Justin Colón and Illustrated by Kaly Quarles
This one was a little scary! But if you loved Justin’s The Quaken, which of course you did, then you’ll enjoy Zombees. This is a story of bees being tricky.
By Andrea Zuill
This book was so good I wanted to die and be brought back to life by a vampire snail just so I could read it again. I sent this recommendation to everyone I know and no one responded but I think that’s because Bob got them.
By Zoey Abbott
The colors! Oh my gosh you just never see acid green in a picture book and you totally should. I bought my goddaughter, Clementine, Zoey’s book Clementine and the Lion and we both just love it. The point is this book is excellent for our little independent kids. Also a twist ending!
